Hello Up.
My son has made a huge leap in the communications field today. He approached me in the kitchen while I was flipping the batter covered chicken in canola oil and stopped in front of me. Normally, this would be followed with whining and screams and other incoherent animal noises, but today he simply smiled and very calmly said, "Hello Up" and reached his arms up to me. My heart melted, because HE'S A GENIUS! I know he may be a bit behind in the speaking arena of toddlerhood, but he made a sentence today! Granted, it is not a sentence one finds themselves using very often, but hello up! It makes sense to me. Hello, pick me up so I can look at that dangerous hot deep pot of oil. Fantastic. I'm so proud. I was able to finally reward him for using words to get what he wanted instead of listening to him use a screaming cloud of whines. And I let him look at the dangerous hot oil giving yummy goodness to our dinner.
