A Good Evening
A good evening for me is having my son, my husband, and close friends gathered around my dining room table for dinner. The food doesn't even have to be fancy. Tonight, we simply had tacos with black beans and rice. But it warms my heart to see L.A.'s daughter eating sour cream off of her fingers. She can't get enough of it. Sour cream or mashed potatoes on the tips of little tiny fingers....it is so adorable. My son picking out the black beans out of the rice and then using his fork to stab the black beans, and then finally eating them one by one, is endearing. My husband pretending to like the black beans and rice, while really the only thing he can think about is how he would rather be eating just the taco with meat and cheese only. A quick fast clean-up of dishes after dinner with everyone helping out. I loaded the dishwasher and washed those dishes that couldn't be squeezed in and L.A. cleaning up the table and my husband drying dishes and even my son, knows what buttons to push to start the dishwasher. And just like every other night, he always helps me take out the recycling. The kids run around after dinner, chasing each other, giggling, fighting off the inevitable tired night crankies. Their last energy thrown into kissing and hugging each other, as if they had just said I do. Can it get any cuter than that? I am so grateful to have all of these wonderful people in my life, giving my evenings such warmth and comfort.
